Dangling links may affect your search engine optimization
Webmaster April 29th, 2008Going for the professional search engine optimization , you should be careful about certain factors that might adversely affect your page ranking on the search engine and hamper the process of your search engine optimization. One such factor is the Dangling links.
The dangling links are those links that point to pages that on turn do not have any outgoing link. They do not affect the page ranking of other pages directly. But these pages are normally removed from the search engine systems and in calculation of page rank is made without them. For example, Google removes them just after they commence their calculations for the page ranking on their display pages.
Functionality or website optimization might be adversely affected with such dangling links. They will be losing page rank and disappear from the search page where they appeared with much difficulties. For example, if a site has 6 pages, its potential would be 6. But if the site has a dangling link, the potential will go down to 5 only despite having six pages. If the number of dangling pages is more, the ranking will go down even more significantly. You may regain your page rank after the dangling link is removed from the search engine but by that time your ecommerce search engine optimization might have received a setback. .
The solution is simple. Just link the dangling or no-link page to one of your pages or the home page. Now you regain the full potential and nothing is at all lost. And remember, better page ranking is obtained with your pages linking outwards with others not inside your own site.
