Wood decks look best when they gleam and reflect images. And for that you have to regularly clean them and keep them pretty & shining.

Self Cleaning Tips:

Firstly do inspect the deck, mainly for faulty loosened boards or rotting due to dampness. You may replace the piece of wood that is rotten and bad. The next step in deck cleaning would be to scrap all the loose stains and paints with a sharp scraping object.

You may also use sand paper and scrap away the old paints. Sealed varnish finish may have to be removed with a chemical solution or acid stripper. You need to follow some instructions while working with a chemical stripper. Obstinate stains may require you to use the stripper 1 to 2 times repeatedly.

The deck cleaner must be then mixed and sprayed and given enough time to work. You may leave the cleaner to set for about 10 to 20 minutes. Then using a good broom that is hard and spiked you can clean the deck surface and complete the cleaning with water rinsing.

After about 1 to 2 days of drying, buy a deck staining solution that is water repellent and has protection against the UV rays. You may use a good roller or brush according to the type of deck to apply the deck stain.

Wood decks look decent and give a rich feel to the entire surrounding if they are polished and maintained periodically. So, make sure to take proper care of your wood decks.
